Beaches aren’t the only thing that the Florida Keys is famous for. Below is a list of the top beaches and parks found where you’ll be staying in the Florida Keys.

Coco Plum Beach

Coco Plum Beach is a natural beach with an adjacent wetland located in Marathon at MM 54, 1.4 miles down Coco Plum Drive. This beach is typically less crowded and provides a covered pavilion and restrooms for your use and enjoyment.

Coco Plum Beach is one of the only completely dog-friendly beaches in Marathon and is perfect for letting your four-legged friends burn off some energy and enjoy the ocean. The waters are shallow so it is not the best beach for swimming but the long, beautiful stretch of beach is perfect for a walk with stunning sunsets. Due to the shallowness of the water, Coco Plum Beach is also ideal for windsurfing.

Beach hours are from 7:00 am until dusk. Please be sure to abide by all beach rules especially as they apply to your pet.

Sombrero Beach

Have some fun in the sun at Sombrero Beach; a beautiful, family-oriented beach that features a shady park with picnic pavilions, volleyball courts, restrooms, showers, and full handicap accessibility.

Note that Sombrero Beach is a turtle nesting beach and from April through October it is not unusual to have Loggerhead turtles, among other species of turtles, coming to the beach at night to lay their eggs. An exciting event for marine life lovers know that human activity can be limited in this area during this time to protect the turtles and their eggs.

A lovely beach for so many reasons be sure to explore Sombrero Beach on your next trip. Beach hours are from 7:00 a.m. until dusk and is located by MM 50 at the end of Sombrero Beach Rd.

Cabana Beach Club: Private Beach Club

A private, gated beach located in Key Colony Beach between 10th and 11th Street, Inch Beach is a pristine paradise with parking, bike racks, a tiki hut and freshwater for showering all on a sugar sand beach with crystal clear water.

Note you can only access this beach via select Key Colony Beach vacation rentals.

Bahia Honda State Park

The Island of Marathon, located in the heart of the Florida Keys, offers pristine natural beauty and an array of stunning and unique wildlife year long. Take a drive down to Bahia Honda State Park, located at mile marker 37, and enjoy the award-winning beach or stay for the sunset at the historic Bahia Honda Bridge.

Open all year round from 8:00 am until dusk, enjoy activities such as snorkeling and kayaking and rent a boat slip if needed. Beach equipment rentals and on-site snacks are available in addition to a gift shop.

The park is also an excellent place to observe wading birds and shorebirds, while the Sand and Sea Nature Center introduces nature lovers to the island`s plants and animals.

Marathon Community Park

Located directly on the Overseas Highway at MM49 Marathon Community Park offers visitors four tennis courts, tennis wall, combination hockey/basketball court, little league baseball fields, and two soccer fields. Not to mention the skate park, shuffleboard courts, boccie ball courts, batting cage, concession stand, amphitheater, picnic areas and restrooms.

With something for everyone, you can access the park from 7:30 am - 10:00 pm daily. Completely handicap accessible bring the whole gang to enjoy.

Skate Park at Marathon Community Park

Located on the east end of the City`s Community Park near 35th Street the skate park is a great place to play. Visible from the highway it`s easy to find and FREE to use. Participants must sign in and out and required safety equipment.

Open from 7:30 am - 10:00 pm.
Unsupervised Hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Supervised Hours: 4:00 - 10:00 pm.

Jesse Hobbs Park

Open from 7:30 am to dusk, Jesse Hobbs Park has a sandy playground for kids, and a basketball court with lights, bleachers, and restrooms great for any pickup game. Conveniently located, its a great place to get away from the crowds to have some fun!

Children`s Rotary Park

Open 8:00 to dusk, Children`s Rotary Park offers children an awesome playground built by local volunteers. A 3-acre park, the wooden playground includes swing sets, lookout towers, tunnels slides, a pirate ship, train, toy shark and much more!

Complete with picnic pavilion including tables and restroom facilities, its easy to spend your entire day at the park playing and relaxing! Perfect for a birthday party or family outing or event.

Marathon`s Dog Park

A decade ago some of dog`s best friends decided it was time for a dog park where dogs could be dogs in Marathon. Between 75th and 76th Streets oceanside you`ll find a off-leash paradise separated for small and large dog play and exploration. Open daily from 7:30 to dusk, please follow all posted rules and be sure to clean up after your pooch.

Oceanfront Park

Oceanfront Park is a nearly 8-acre oasis open to the public perfect for picnicking, fishing, or launching your kayak. Located between 98th and 99th Streets behind City Hall it`s also pet-friendly and perfect for running your dog or flying a kite!

A Free to use amenity offered by the City, please be sure to follow all posted rules for launching kayaks and be sure to clean up after your pooch.

Kayak Launch at Oceanfront Park

Kayak Launch at Oceanfront Park is a great added benefit to our already amazing city elements here in Marathon. Funded by a grant from the Monroe County Tourist Development Council a one of a kind kayak lanch facility exists behind City Hall.

Comprised of two covered tiki huts linked by a boardwalk with a ramp to floating docks, you`ll find two kayak slips made for easy launching and access to the Overseas Heritage Paddling Trail

Sunset Bay Park on Grassy Key

Located in Marathon Florida, Sunset Bay Park on Grassy Key is a haven for a variety of vegetation including palms. A homey habitat for crabs and songbirds you`ll find white crown pigeons, ospreys, hawks, and woodpeckers hover throughout the oasis.
