Boat Ramp Etiquette

Boat ramps are a great way to launch your boat and get out on the water. But before you hit the waves, it’s important to understand some basic rules of etiquette. This will ensure good communication, especially with locals who will expect you to know some of the unspoken rules of the boat launch!

Be Aware of Other Boaters

The most important thing to remember is that everyone should be courteous and follow all applicable laws and regulations. Be respectful of other boaters and adhere to any speed limits that may be in place. It’s also important to leave plenty of room for other boats when maneuvering at the ramp.

Drive Cautiously Around the Boat Launch

When launching your boat, use caution so as not to damage other boats or property around the area. You should also take care not to create any unnecessary wake which can disturb other boaters. Ask a fellow boater for advice if you are unsure of the best way to launch your boat.

Don’t Linger at the Ramp

Finally, when it is time to load up your boat at the end of the day, leave enough room for others waiting to use the ramp. Don’t take too long, and make sure all gear is loaded quickly so that everyone can get on their way.

Clean up any mess or debris left behind before leaving - no one wants a messy or unsafe environment while out enjoying the water!
