Fantasy Fest is a yearly 10-day party in a tropical paradise for grown-ups. Started in 1979 by a small group of Key West locals, the party was designed to bring visitors to the island in what was a typically quiet, but beautiful season. It worked. Fantasy Fest has grown every year since and is now one of the wildest extravaganzas around!
For 40 years, Fantasy Fest has entertained locals and tourists alike. It is a performance of a lifetime, offering opportunities to dance, exercise, and sing along. What to expect at this year’s Fantasy Fest:
Parade: The biggest highlight is the parade. You will see all the colorful costumes, dancers, performers, and music going down the streets for several hours of fun.- Fantasy Façade: Each year, buildings decorate their front with a unique, fun theme to win as the Reddy Ice Fantasy Façade. Last year, the Key West Women’s Club did a “Monopoly Place” theme and won the grand prize of $500.
- Street Fair: The fair alone brings people from all over the country in for Fantasy Fest. Here you will find fantastic food, Caribbean feasts, unique shopping and gifts, whimsical handmade crafts, and one-of-a-kind items. The fair runs for two days, from Friday, October 25, 2019, to Saturday, October 26, 2019.
- Body Painting: A few vendors will offer body painting so that you can join the Fantasy Fest party in the colors you want! One featured vendor this year is Sean Avram from Skin Wars.
- Hot Pepper Sauce Tasting: Try over 100 different flavors of hot sauce curated from the best fiery sauce artisans around and take a special edition bottle home to enjoy later.
